QUALITY OF LIFE

The Gateway to Lake Seminole:

Donalsonville and Seminole County Georgia, the “Gateway to Lake Seminole”, is located in the extreme southwest corner of the state and offers the best of both worlds. This is a quiet, safe community within a short drive of major municipalities: Dothan, Alabama; Albany, Georgia; and Tallahassee, Florida.

Donalsonville offers the best in small town shopping with unique shops and boutiques within the historic downtown district, chain stores along Highway 84, and two shopping centers.

Family Friendly Commmunity:

Health care is a number one priority in maintaining a high quality of life for our families. Our medical facilities are state of the art, and boasts ten doctors on staff.

Families are important in our community, and this is evidenced by the high quality of our school system with loving, caring personnel. There are extra curricular activities to fill a variety of interests.

Outside the school system there are many activities including established scout programs as well as a full time recreation program, which includes activities for both our youth and adults.

Civic And Religious Organizations:

Donalsonville has a number of civic organizations, an active Senior Citizens Center, and a public library, which is part of a regional library system.

Religious faith and worship play an important role in our community. Within Donalsonville and Seminole County there are churches to suit most every denomination. Not only do the churches serve our spiritual needs, but they are important to the civic and educational needs of our citizens. Most all the churches have programs to foster good citizenship and community involvement, and are very supportive of all civic endeavors, including the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the annual Harvest Festival, and the Seminole County recreation program.

Nature And The Arts:

The Donalsonville City Park features a gazebo, which is used throughout the year for many events such as concerts, children’s art activities, and picnics. It is also available for individuals and families to use for activities such as family reunions, parties, and weddings.

The Seminole Arts Council is very active and sponsors performances periodically throughout the year. Their home is the historic Olive Theater located in the downtown historic district.

Natural beauty abounds in Donalsonville and Seminole County. Throughout all the neighborhoods you will find beautiful landscapes featuring a variety of shrubs and flowers. A beautiful sight to enjoy whether walking or driving, on your way to work or in your leisure time.

Beautiful Lake Seminole is located in our county and is one of the top bass fishing lakes in the country. Besides fishing, the lake has wonderful locations for swimming, water skiing, picnicking, camping, and nature walks. Fishing and picturesque scenery may also be enjoyed on the Chattahoochee and Flint Rivers. We have abundant deer, quail, dove, and duck for hunting enthusiasts. This is a haven for bird watchers with more than 295 sighted species.

Whether you prefer subdivision living, country living, or lake front living, there are building sites and established homes available in Donalsonville and in the lake area.

With our mild climate, low cost of living, and low crime rate Donalsonville is not only a great place to live, work, and raise a family; it is an attractive area for retirement.

Our Number One Asset:

More than all this there is a sense of family everywhere you go in Donalsonville and Seminole County. Our neighbors are friends, and strangers soon become neighbors, as our friendly people are our number one asset.
