Donalsonville and Seminole County hosts numerous festivals and events throughout the year. Most are planned to reflect the season, and all are fun for the entire family.
Harvest Festival – A Cornerstone Event:
Each year during the third (3rd) weekend in October, the Donalsonville/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Harvest Festival, which is designed to celebrate the county’s number one industry, Agriculture. Visitors come from near and far to enjoy a parade, arts & crafts, entertainment, children’s activities, golf cart parade, car show, art show, and good southern cooked food. Activities also include a 5K run and 1 mile fun run with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research. Other events held during the festival week include a Peanut Recipe Contest and the Merchants Decorating Contest. New for the 2008 festival will be a ball tournament to be held during the 1st weekend in October at the Seminole County Recreation Complex. The 2008 festival will mark the 29th year the festival had been held.
Shellcracker Tournament & Festival:
The Lake Seminole Lions Club hosts the Annual Shellcracker Tournament & Festival the fourth (4th) Saturday in April each year at Spring Creek Park Resort. The festival combines a fishing tournament with kids’ activities, vendors, and entertainment to provide a full day of fun. All proceeds from this event goes to local charities and organizations.
4th of July Celebration
This event, celebrating our independence is held the first (1st) Saturday in July and features food, fun, and entertainment all day and a tremendous fireworks display at dark. The event is held at Seminole State Park, and is sponsored by the Lake Seminole Lions Club.
Spirit of Christmas
Each year on the Thursday after Thanksgiving the Donalsonville Downtown Development Authority/Better Hometown sponsors the Spirit of Christmas celebration. The event features food vendors, arts & crafts, children’s activities, seasonal music, and a nighttime parade.
Downtown Trick or Treat
Each year at Halloween the Donalsonville Downtown Development Authority/Better Hometown sponsors the Downtown Trick or Treat. Downtown streets are blocked, and merchants distribute goodies to hundreds of youngsters.
Christmas Tour of Homes
Each year during the first (1st) week in December the Donalsonville/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Christmas Tour of Homes. Several area homes and churches are open for the tour. Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce.
Bass Tournaments
The Donalsonville/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce and the Donalsonville Downtown Development Authority/Better Hometown sponsor several Bass Tournaments throughout the year.
